About the Role
We are currently seeking applications for the permanent part-time (45 hours per fortnight) role of GHS Counsellor / Community Educator in Gambling Help Service located at our Eight Mile Plains venue.
The purpose of the GHS (Gambling Help Service) Community Educator role is to provide a high standard of service to the community by:
- Raising awareness about responsible gambling
- Promoting greater public awareness about the social issues associated with problem gambling by providing information to the community and specific target groups
- Supporting the community to link clients to GHS counselling services for individuals, couples and families as well as help other service providers to ease referral pathways into the GHS program
The key responsibilities of this position include:
- Provide community education interventions and education to raise awareness about the impacts of gambling
- Provide information, education and facilitate workshops to identify and respond to problem gambling in the community
- Build partnerships with key RAQ - Gambling Help Service(GHS) stakeholders
- Ensure clear referral pathways for people accessing RAQ gambling help service
Workdays/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however, please note that some flexibility may be required depending on operational requirement, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.
About You
To be successful in this position, you will have:
- Relevant undergraduate qualifications in behavioural science, psychology, counselling or social work
- Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with addiction, specifically gambling, in a variety of settings (e.g. individuals, couples, families and groups)
- Have knowledge of and the ability to apply relevant legislation and regulations relating to relationships counselling.

The salary being offered is between $84,426.28 to $ 96,580.61per annum pro rata for part time, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. We also offer our employees as follows:
