About UsRelationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) is a leading provider of relationship and family support services.  We believe healthy relationships are essential for the well-being of children, families, and communities.  We are committed to offering the best possible counselling, mediation, education and support services, and are committed to social justice and inclusion. Find out more about our values, benefits and employee experience by watching this video!About the RoleWe're currently seeking applications for the permanent part-time role of GHS Counsellor/Community Educator located at our Morayfield venue on the basis of 52.5 hours per fortnight. The purpose of the role is to provide high standard of gambling counselling to individuals, couples and families, and to promote greater public awareness about the social issues associated with problem gambling through the provision of information to specific target groups and the community.The key responsibilities of this position include:Provide therapeutic counselling to reduce the impact and severity of those affected by problem gambling and their friends and family, and to enhance their personal wellbeingProvide primary community education interventions, such as the provision of information, to raise awareness about the impacts of gambling and the promotion of responsible gambling practicesProvide secondary community education responses aimed to enhance capacity within the Queensland human services system and the gaming industry through the provision of information, education and workshops about how to identify and respond to problem gambling in the communityBuild partnerships with key RAQ GHS stakeholders, including the community, government and gaming industry, to actively facilitate the engagement and referral to RAQ GHS services and ensure clear referral pathways for people accessing RAQ gambling help servicesNote that a requirement of the role is to work an evening shift (until 8pm) in order to meet business requirements.The salary being offered is $81,368.45 to $95,092.19 per annum, pro rata, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.About YouTo be successful in this position, you will haveRelevant undergraduate qualifications in behavioural science, psychology, counselling or social work,Experience working therapeutically with addiction, specifically gambling, in a variety of settings (e.g. individuals, couples, families and groups).Have knowledge of and the ability to apply relevant legislation and regulations relating to relationships counsellingHave the ability to deliver presentations to members of the public and other community agencies as part of the community education role.What We Can Offer YouA healthy work-life balance; We’re proud of our supportive and flexible culture.
