Find out more about our values, benefits and employee experience by watching this video!About the RoleWe are currently seeking applications for the permanent fulltime (37.5 hours per week) role of Gambling Help Service (GHS) Counsellor and Community Educator, located at our Ipswich venue.The purpose of the Gambling Help Service (GHS) Counsellor and Community Educator role is to provide high standard of gambling counselling to individuals, couples and families, and to promote greater public awareness about the social issues associated with problem gambling through the provision of information to specific target groups and the community.The key responsibilities of this position include:Provide therapeutic counselling to reduce the impact and severity of those affected by problem gambling and their friends and family, and to enhance their personal wellbeing.Provide primary community education intervention to raise awareness about the impacts of gambling and the promotion of responsible gambling practices.Provide secondary community education responses aimed to enhance capacity within the Queensland human services system and the gaming industry through the provision of information, education and workshops about how to identify and respond to problem gambling in the community.Build partnerships with key RAQ GHS stakeholders, including the community, government and gaming industry.To actively facilitate the engagement and referral to RAQ GHS services and ensure clear referral pathways for people accessing RAQ gambling help services.Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder will may be required to work an evening shift (until 8pm) with flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.About YouTo be successful in this position, you will haveRelevant undergraduate qualifications in behavioural science, psychology, counselling or social work,Experience working therapeutically with addiction, specifically gambling, in a variety of settings (e.g. individuals, couples, families and groups).Have knowledge of and the ability to apply relevant legislation and regulations relating to relationships counselling.Hold or be actively working towards membership with a relevant professional organisation that represents counsellors in AustraliaWhat We Can Offer YouThe salary being offered is between $81,368.45 to $95,092.19 per annum, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation.
