About UsRelationships Australia Queensland (RAQ) is a leading provider of relationship and family support services.  We believe healthy relationships are essential for the well-being of children, families and communities.  We are committed to offering the best possible counselling, mediation, education and support services, are committed to social justice and inclusion and offer our team a range of benefits including flexible work, great culture and additional leave.  We provide services from more than 30 centres and employ over 400 employees across Queensland. About the RoleWe are currently seeking applications for the permanent part-time role (45 hours per fortnight) of Family Counsellor (working in Post Separation) located at our Eight Mile Plains venue.  Seeking applicants who have experience providing child counselling as well as counselling to the broader family system (parents, couples, families) in transitioning through and adjusting to family breakdown/separation.The purpose of this position is to deliver a range of family support using a systematic family therapy, trauma informed, case management model, to our post separation families in our services.  The aim of interventions is to create safe  and sustainable family functioning following family separation to prevent families from entering/re-entering the family court system.The key responsibilities of this position include:Provide appropriate counselling, referral and support to children, young people, and family members experiencing family separation, using a wide range of strategies including individual, group, family interventions.Conduct client assessment and intake of client needs to make client appointments, provide relevant information and make appropriate referrals, and link to treatment planNetwork and develop collaborative relationships with relevant government organisations and community agencies to build community capacity, to successfully link children, young people to other support services within a case management model.Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant. Please note that the position holder may be required to work an evening shift weekly, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.About You To be successful in this position, you will haveAppropriate undergraduate qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences with post graduate qualifications highly regarded.A theoretical understanding of child development and associated issues as well as knowledge of the dynamics of domestic and family violence (DFV), and an understanding of DFV and child protection legislation and family law.Experience and theoretical knowledge of working therapeutically with clients in a variety of settings (e.g. individuals, couples, children, young people, families, groups), andExperience working with local networks and agenciesKnowledge of the principles of community development.The salary being offered is $73,554 to $88,159.50 per annum pro rata, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation and generous salary packaging options where eligible which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay.
