This role focuses on facilitating group sessions for men who use violence and promoting safety for clients and their families. You will also provide individual counselling as needed and develop community education programs to raise awareness about the impacts of domestic and family violence. Your work will play a crucial role in addressing and preventing family violence, contributing to the safety and well-being of individuals and families in the Cairns region.Additionally, you will:Assessing men for suitability in program participation, and case managing each client to ensure the safety of the client and their familyFacilitating groups, and providing crisis intervention and individual counselling to perpetrators of domestic violenceProviding information and support in relation to protection orders, court processes and the Domestic and Family Violence Protection ActDeveloping, implementing and evaluating training and education programs within the communityDeveloping and maintaining appropriate contact with police, solicitors, court staff, other counsellors and community agencies in the region to facilitate a community response to domestic violenceWork days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder will be required to work an evening shift which will be between the hours of 9.30am to 8pm up to once a week, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.About YouThe successful applicants will possess below:Undergraduate qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences.Experience working with clients in a group facilitation model and in individual counselling.Demonstrated experience working with local networks and agencies using principles of community development. Knowledge of current theory and practice relating to domestic and family violence and a capacity to deliver community education programs.What We Can Offer YouThe salary being offered is between $84,000.00 to $96,000.00 per annum, pro rata for part time, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) Practitioner for a permanent part-time position (52.5 hours a fortnight) in our Stopping Family Violence program in Cairns. Additionally, you will:

  • Providing information and support in relation to protection orders, court processes and the Domestic and Family Violence Protection Act
  • Developing, implementing and evaluating training and education programs within the community
  • Developing and maintaining appropriate contact with police, solicitors, court staff, other counsellors and community agencies in the region to facilitate a community response to domestic violence

Work days/hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant, however please note that the position holder will be required to work an evening shift which will be between the hours of 9.30am to 8pm up to once a week, with some flexibility needed in order to meet business requirements.

About You

The successful applicants will possess below:

  • Undergraduate qualifications in the social or behavioural sciences.
  • Experience working with clients in a group facilitation model and in individual counselling.
  • Demonstrated experience working with local networks and agencies using principles of community development. 
  • Knowledge of current theory and practice relating to domestic and family violence and a capacity to deliver community education programs.

What We Can Offer You

The salary being offered is between $84,000.00 to $96,000.00 per annum, pro rata for part time, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. We also offer our employees as follows:
