About the RoleWe’re accepting applications for a full time (37.5 hours per week) permanent position of Domestic and Family Violence Counsellor working at our Rockhampton venue. The roles work with victims of domestic and family violence, and develop and deliver community development strategies aimed at increasing awareness about the effects of domestic violence.The main responsibilities of these roles include:Provide intervention and individual counselling to individuals as requiredRole model appropriate and respectful communicationApply understanding of risk assessment and safety planningWork with mentors and co-facilitators to develop programs Link group participants to other services as necessary and maintain close connections with all relevant services in the local regionAbout YouExperience in child counselling, domestic and family violence counselling or service coordination is advantageous.Minimum requirements A relevant tertiary qualification in the social or behavioural sciencesDemonstrated knowledge experience working with clients in a crisis situationThe ability to apply current theory and best practice relating to domestic and family violenceThe base salary on offer is $71,000 to $84,000 per annum, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience. We also offer generous salary packaging options which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay.
