About the role
Are you a passionate storyteller with a talent for meaningful communication? Relationships Australia Queensland is seeking a Communications Specialist to lead our strategic internal and external communications activities and contribute to impactful campaigns that drive positive change.
As part of a small but mighty team, you’ll have the opportunity to make a real impact across the entire organisation, collaborating with stakeholders at all levelsâincluding senior management and executives. Working closely with the Head of Marketing & Communications, you will help develop and implement an internal communications plan that supports organisational change, drives employee engagement and culture, and delivers on our strategic objectives.
You will craft compelling external communications that shape public perception of RAQ, and help us realise our strategic advocacy goals. Your deep understanding of complex social issues, underpinned by empathy, will enable you to thoughtfully translate challenging topics into clear, compelling stories that inform and inspire audiences online and offline.

Additionally, you will:
- Implement and moderate an internal communications plan that supports organisational change, drives employee engagement, and aligns with strategic objectives.
- Communicate with various audiences including policymakers, media, industry, and the public to shape public perception of our organisation and the issues we care about
- Prepare a range of communications content and collateral including key messages, talking points, CEO and Executive scripts and speeches, fact sheets, infographics, and social media content.
- Provide communications advice and support to the CEO, Executive Team, and project leads ensuring clear, consistent messaging for internal stakeholders.
- Uphold positive perceptions of RAQ internally and externally ensuring all communications reflect RAQ’s values, mission, and brand promise.
About you
You are a natural storyteller and an outstanding communicator who cares deeply about the impact of Relationships Australia Queensland’s work. You excel at building strong relationships and engaging effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders. Your ability to coordinate projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver resultsâoften within tight deadlinesâsets you apart in fast-paced environments.
With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to quality and accuracy, you ensure communications are clear, consistent, and compelling. Above all, you foster a collaborative, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture, and are motivated by the opportunity to help share stories that make a real difference in the lives of individuals, families, and communities.
Additionally, you have:
- Undergraduate qualification in Journalism, Media, Public Relations, Business or related discipline.
- Demonstrated ability to deliver effective internal communications to inform and engage the workforce and support organisational change.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate on a range of topics to a range of audiences via a range of communications methods.
