About the Role
Are you passionate about supporting families and children? We are seeking a dedicated Family Support Worker in the Children's Contact Service (CCS) for our Statewide support team. This role is a hybrid position; where you will work from home and provide virtual support to CCS services and their clients. You will also have the opportunity to connect with CCS in the venue, once a week or by agreement with your line manager.
As a Family Support Worker, you will be the first point of contact for clients entering CCS, preparing them for engagement with the service. You'll provide essential support, including case management and virtual supervised contacts.
Additionally, you will:
- Apply theoretical models and frameworks when working with children and parents, maintaining child-inclusive practice.
- Conduct waitlist management, risk screening, assessment, and intake processes, including parent interviews when required.
- Support clients with informed consent, understanding of CCS service agreement, and client readiness.
- Facilitate referrals to internal and external services and provide direct face-to-face and virtual support to regions as needed.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of CCS interventions, assess ongoing needs of children and families, and make necessary changes or referrals to other support programs.
About You
This position requires a professional who can effectively manage client interactions, understand complex family dynamics, and provide compassionate, structured support to families navigating challenging transitions. The role demands a nuanced approach to client preparation, ensuring smooth service entry and maintaining high-quality, client-centered support throughout the engagement process.
Additionally, you have:
- Essential tertiary qualifications in social or behavioural sciences, with a focus on child development studies.
- Senior First Aid/CPR Certificate, or willingness to obtain one.
- Proven experience working with children and their parents/carers, coupled with theoretical knowledge of child development, abuse, and neglect issues.
- Experience in crisis management and working with parents in conflict.
- Demonstrated knowledge and practical application of relevant family law and children's contact services legislation and regulations.
What We Can Offer You
The salary being offered between $84,000 to $98,000 per annum, pro rata for part time, to be negotiated depending upon qualifications and experience, plus superannuation. We also offer our employees as follows:
- Work-life balance and flexible working hours
- Additional annual leave over the Christmas period, annual leave loading and study leave
- A supportive team environment and opportunity for professional development
- Salary packaging options available of up to $15,900, which will significantly increase the value of take-home pay
